Meet Our Mascot
Sumpter Killian
Sumpter Killian is a Great Dane & Labrador Retriever. He was born on May 22, 2017 in Livermore, CA at the Big Dawgs Rescue. He comes from a litter of 10. Our first meeting was love at first sight for both of us. The staff opened the gate and Sumpter ran over to me and sat on my foot. He looked up at me as if to say, “get me outta here.”

Sumpter is a very laid-back puppy. His favorite pastime is eating treats and sunbathing. He is a gentle giant. He loves to snuggle and gives kisses. Sumpter has lived in the daycare since he was 12 weeks old. He is more of a classmate to the children rather than a pet. As you can see by the photos, he is the Academy For Little Minds Mascot. He is a dress up buddy and the vacuum cleaner at snack and lunch time.

Sumpter gets regular “pup wellness” visit with his veterinarian, Dr. Fung. He makes sure Sumpter is up to date on all is vaccinations and he stays healthy. Sumpter has never been aggressive towards a child. He is fully potty trained and he has a gated dog run/potty area far away from the children’s outdoor play area. Sumpter is a beloved member of the The Academy family, and he makes us laugh every day.
