Our Curriculum
Our lesson plans rotate each month including the incorporation of a different theme. The Academy curriculum was created with the focus of filling the children’s day with fun exercises and activities that will ignite their curiosity. The children will explore art, music, language arts, dance, mathematics and experimenting with science. There is a strong focus in engaging in manipulative play to enhance learning.
Social Emotional Learning
It is important for children to learn how to interact with their peers which increases awareness of themselves and
their emotions along with problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The Academy staff uses
the children’s day-to-day activities as teachable moments.
Language Arts
Children work on developing language skills through letter recognition, writing, talking and reading.
The Academy uses a program called Toddlers Can Read. These programs use the child interest to
keep them excited about reading the premise of the program for the child to spend a portion of
their table time reading to staff rather than staff reading to the child. The children have special
books and flash cards that staff encourages parent participation.
Mathematics
Children work on developing their counting skills, as well as numerical recognition. They have a
snoopy clock where they learn to connect time with their daily routine.
Outdoor Playroom
The Academy outdoor playroom is a “must see.” When the weather becomes uncooperative
there is an cottage the children nicknamed the “treehouse”. It has skylights and floors to ceiling
windows which brings the outside indoors.
Culinary Arts
Teaching kids to cook is fun! Through cooking, kids learn about different cultures with the incorporation of math and science. They learn how to follow a recipe and the importance of trying new foods while having fun! Last season the children grew strawberries, tomatoes, spinach, sunflowers and a herb garden.
Creative Arts
Children will develop their artistic skills by using a combination of art mediums and tools such as
clay, paint, feathers, puffs, canvas, glue sticks, crayons etc. They create artwork that is on display
around the school.

Outdoor Space
The Academy has ample outdoor spaces for children to discover and explore. There plenty of room for action activities requiring the use of large/small gross motor skills. The Academy has a garden where children learn where their food comes from, about growing food, nutritional value
and the importance of not wasting food. The children get excited when they get to pick food from their garden and prepare it for their lunch snacks.

Nutrition
The Academy provides two nutritious meals and three healthy snacks served daily to help them stay focused and energized. Mealtime is a great time for children to make social connections with their peers and practice table manners.
